Fence installation in London
New fences fitted by our own team, on concrete posts with gravel boards. Send three photos and a postcode and you get an estimate back the same day, most days.

What we install
Every fence we put up is a new install or a full replacement — we build boundaries, we don't patch them. The type is a choice between how private you want it, how long you want it to last, and how much you want to do to it once it's up.
- Overlap panels — the budget-conscious run
- Closeboard, built board by board on site
- Hit-and-miss — private from both sides
- Slatted, for a contemporary boundary
- Composite, with a 25-year manufacturer guarantee on the boards
- Aluminium slatted and metal railings for front boundaries
Not sure which? The fence types guide shows each one built, with the installed price beside it, and composite fencing has its own page if you want the low-maintenance route.
What's included in an installed price
- Concrete posts and gravel boards as standard
- Pressure-treated timber, properly graded
- Setting posts in concrete, to line and level
- A two-person crew, fully insured
- Standard waste from the new build
- One company start to finish — survey, fit, aftercare
Removing and disposing of your old fence is an optional extra, picked on the estimate form and priced separately. It is not inside the per-metre figures below.
Fence installation cost in London, per metre
Supply and fit, inc VAT, on a typical back-garden run in London. Short runs cost more per metre — the crew and the van cost the same whether the fence is 6 m or 26 m. Rates updated August 2026. Minimum job from £1,200.
| Fence type | Installed, per metre | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Overlap | from £140/m | Panel-based. The budget option, shortest life. |
| Closeboard | from £165/m | Built board by board on site. Solid, no gaps. |
| Hit-and-miss | from £195/m | Alternating boards — private from both sides. |
| Slatted | from £190/m | Contemporary, spaced boards, airy. |
| Composite | from £320/m | No rot, no treating. 25-year manufacturer guarantee on the boards. |
| Metal railings | from £215/m | Front boundaries and driveways. |
| Aluminium slatted | from £350/m | Aluminium slats, powder-coated. |

How the job runs
One — three photos and a postcode. The form takes a couple of minutes. You get a free indicative estimate back, no obligation.
Two — an optional fixed-price survey. Once we know the postcode we name the exact survey fee, and it is credited in full against the job if you go ahead. That visit turns the estimate into a fixed price.
Three — our team fits it. Posts set, line and level checked, site swept. Same company, same number, start to finish.
Difficult London gardens
Most London boundaries are not a clean run across a flat field, and the price moves with the awkwardness rather than the metres. The conditions we deal with most:
- No side access — everything carried through the house
- Terraced streets with no parking outside the property
- Sloping gardens needing stepped or raked runs
- Mature trees and roots along the boundary line
- Old concrete posts and spurs that have to come out whole
- Existing walls, raised beds and outbuildings on the line
This is why the photos matter. They show us the access, the ground and what's already standing, so the indicative estimate is honest before anyone gets in a van.
Where we install
We work across London and the South East from two bases — South-West London and Basingstoke — with our own fitters at both. Each local area guide carries the survey fee for that postcode and the fence styles that suit it. Replacing a boundary rather than fencing a bare plot? That's fence replacement in London.
