1. About GoodFence
GoodFence ("GoodFence", "we", "us", "our") is a fencing company covering London & the Home Counties. We provide estimates, paid on-site visits, fixed prices, and the installation itself. Where a job requires a second fitter, they work alongside our team under our insurance and under the GoodFence name — your contract is with GoodFence throughout. These Terms govern your use of our website and our fencing services.

2. Estimates
Indicative estimates are free of charge and are based on the photos, measurements, and information you supply through our website. To convert an indicative estimate into a fixed price we carry out a paid on-site visit. The visit fee is disclosed before you book, is non-refundable, and is not deducted from the job. The fixed price does not change unless conditions on arrival materially differ from what was described (for example existing posts set deep in concrete, concrete-filled ground, undisclosed obstructions, or access materially different from the photos), in which case any revised price will be confirmed in writing and accepted by you before work continues. Fixed prices are valid for 30 days unless stated otherwise.

3. Booking, Deposits & Payments
A booking is confirmed once you accept the fixed price in writing (email or message) and, where applicable, pay the agreed deposit. Deposits secure your install date and cover materials ordered specifically for your job. The remaining balance is due on completion unless we have agreed alternative payment terms in writing. If you cancel after materials specific to your job have been ordered or delivered (timber, posts, concrete, fixings), those material costs are payable in full regardless of which cancellation tier in section 5 applies.

4. Your Right to Cancel (Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013)
If you are a consumer and book with us at a distance (e.g. by phone, email, or our website) or off-premises, you have a statutory right to cancel within 14 days of confirming the booking, without giving a reason. If you ask us in writing to start work within that 14-day period, you agree to pay for any work carried out and materials supplied up to the point of cancellation. To cancel, contact us at hello@goodfence.co.uk.

5. Cancellation & Changes (Outside the 14-Day Period)
Outside the statutory cancellation window, the charge for cancelling or rescheduling depends on how close to your install date you tell us:
- More than 7 days before the install date — free to cancel or move.
- 2 to 7 days before — 25% of the agreed job price.
- Less than 48 hours before — 50% of the agreed job price.
- On the day, or if we arrive and can't start (locked gate, no access, refused entry) — 100% of the agreed job price.
Worked example on an £1,800 job: cancel 10 days out, £0; cancel 4 days out, £450; cancel the night before, £900; we arrive and can't get in, £1,800. Changes to scope after booking may affect price and timeline — we'll confirm any impact in writing before proceeding. Material costs under section 3 are payable in addition to the percentages above.

6. Weather, Delays & Force Majeure
Fencing is weather-dependent. We may need to reschedule if conditions (heavy rain, frost, high winds, waterlogged ground) make work unsafe or would compromise quality. We will not be liable for delays caused by events outside our reasonable control, including extreme weather, supplier shortages, transport disruption, illness, or other force majeure events. We will keep you informed and rebook the earliest practical date.

7. Timber & Materials — Natural Variation
Timber is a natural product. Minor knots, shakes, splits, colour variation, surface checking, movement, shrinkage, and weathering over time are normal characteristics and are not defects. Pressure-treated timber may show salt deposits or green/brown tinting that fades with exposure. We select sound, fit-for-purpose materials, but long-term colour, dimensional stability, or appearance of natural timber cannot be guaranteed.

8. Access & Site Preparation
You are responsible for ensuring clear, safe access to the work area on the agreed install date. Please move vehicles, garden furniture, pots, and any obstructions before we arrive. If access on arrival prevents work starting — locked side gates, vehicles not moved, refused entry — that counts as a same-day cancellation under section 5 and the 100% charge applies. We will take reasonable care to protect surrounding areas, but are not responsible for pre-existing damage or items left in the work zone.

9. Boundaries & Neighbouring Properties
Where a fence borders a neighbouring property, it is your responsibility to confirm boundary ownership and obtain any necessary consent from neighbours, freeholders, or your local authority (including planning or conservation consent) before work begins. We will install along the line you instruct. We are not liable for disputes arising from boundary ownership, party-wall matters, or planning/conservation restrictions that you have not disclosed.

10. Underground Services
You must inform us of any known underground services (electricity, gas, water, drainage, telecoms, irrigation, cabling) in the work area before work begins. We will take reasonable care, but cannot be liable for damage to services that were not marked or disclosed. If we encounter unexpected obstructions or services, we will confirm any revised price or scope in writing before continuing. If you don't accept the revision, work pauses and sections 3 and 5 apply to material costs and cancellation charges.

11. Liability & Insurance
GoodFence carries public liability insurance covering the work we perform, including any second fitter working alongside our team under our insurance. Our total liability for any claim arising from a job is limited to the amount paid for that job, except where liability cannot be limited by law (e.g. death or personal injury caused by negligence, or your statutory consumer rights). We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing in these Terms removes or limits your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, including the right to services carried out with reasonable care and skill.
12 / 15
12. Payments
We accept bank transfer, paid to GoodFence. Invoices are payable on the terms stated at the time of booking. Late payments may incur interest at 4% above the Bank of England base rate, in line with the Late Payment of Commercial Debts Act where applicable.
13 / 15
13. Photography of Completed Work
We may take photographs of completed installations for our portfolio, website, and marketing. Photos will not include identifying details such as house numbers, faces, or vehicle number plates. If you would prefer no photographs are taken, just let us know in writing before the install date.
14 / 15
14. Data Protection
Your personal data (name, contact details, address, photos of your property) is collected to provide you with an estimate and to deliver the job. We share with suppliers only where strictly necessary (e.g. delivering materials to your address). We do not sell or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.

15. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
