Privacy Policy

Last updated June 2026

The short version

  • We collect what we need to price your job — name, contact, postcode, photos.
  • We use it to run your job — only what's needed. Your details aren't sold or passed to other traders. If a second fitter works alongside our team on your job, they work under our insurance and only see what they need to deliver it.
  • We keep it for up to 24 months after your last interaction (6 years for completed-job records, for tax).
  • You can ask for a copy or deletion at any time — email hello@goodfence.co.uk.

Full policy below.

1. Who We Are

GoodFence ("GoodFence", "we", "us", "our") is a fencing company covering London & the South East. We provide estimates, on-site visits, fixed prices, and the installation itself. We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. For data protection enquiries, contact us at hello@goodfence.co.uk or via our estimate form.

02

2. What Data We Collect

When you submit an estimate request, we collect your name, email address, phone number, property address, fence photos, job details, and any description you provide. We also record limited first-party attribution data: the page you arrived on, referring website, campaign tags, device type, and a bounded list of public pages visited in that browser session. You may optionally tell us how you first heard about GoodFence after submitting. We do not use fingerprinting or infer identities across devices.

03

3. Why We Collect It

We use your data to provide an indicative estimate, coordinate the fixed-price survey and installation, manage payments, understand which pages and sources produce useful enquiries, improve our service, and (with your consent) send marketing communications. The legal basis is performance of a contract with you, legitimate interest in running and measuring our service, and consent where required for advertising or marketing storage.

04

4. How We Store & Protect It

Your data is stored securely using encrypted cloud infrastructure. Photos are stored in secure cloud storage. Where a job requires a second fitter working alongside our team under our insurance, they only see the information needed to deliver the job (typically name, contact details, property address, photos, and fence details). We share with suppliers only where strictly necessary (e.g. delivering materials to your address). We do not sell your personal data.

05

5. How Long We Keep It

We retain estimate request data, including its linked attribution record, for up to 24 months after your last interaction with us. Raw anonymous journey events may be retained for up to 13 months; longer-term reporting uses non-identifying totals. Completed job records (invoices and receipts) are retained for 6 years for tax and legal purposes. You can request deletion where the law allows.

06

6. Your Rights (UK GDPR)

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to: access your personal data, correct inaccurate data, request deletion of your data, restrict or object to processing, receive your data in a portable format, and withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@goodfence.co.uk. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

07

7. Cookies

We use essential browser storage to keep the estimate working and to record limited first-party source and page-journey evidence for service measurement. Analytics and advertising storage remain off unless you accept them. If accepted, Google Ads or other listed services may measure campaign effectiveness. Declining does not activate advertising storage.

08

8. Third-Party Services & Recipients

We share or use the following third parties to deliver the service: any second fitter working under our insurance on your job, our cloud hosting and database provider, our email and messaging providers (Resend, WhatsApp) for customer communication, and Google Ads / Meta for advertising measurement. Each operates under its own privacy policy.

09

9. International Transfers

Some of our providers (for example Resend, Google, Meta, WhatsApp) may process data outside the UK or EEA. Where that happens, transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards (UK GDPR adequacy decisions, the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, or Standard Contractual Clauses), as required by UK data protection law.

10

10. Security & Breach Notification

We use industry-standard security measures, including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls on our admin tools, and limited staff access on a need-to-know basis. If a personal data breach occurs that is likely to result in a risk to your rights and freedoms, we will notify the ICO within 72 hours and contact affected individuals without undue delay where required.

11

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
