Fencing in Surrey.
Surrey runs from suburban Epsom to genuinely rural stretches around Cobham and Guildford, and the fencing brief changes with it. Plots are wider than London's, so runs of 30 to 60 metres are common and per-metre costs come down. Privacy and screening drive most of the work here — closeboard and slatted on the boundary, often with a matching gate — and a good number of properties back onto woodland, bridleways or open fields where wind loading and deer pressure decide the spec rather than looks.
What the ground here does to a fence
Free-draining sand and greensand around Woking and Guildford, heavier London clay towards Epsom and Esher, and plenty of mature root systems on the wooded plots. Sandy ground digs quickly but wants a deeper set on tall panels.

Worked example
18 m of 6 ft closeboard with concrete posts and gravel boards, standard access, clear boundary — £2,950–£4,050 fitted.
Taking the old fence away is an optional extra you choose on the estimate form — it's priced separately and isn't in the figures above. Minimum job £1,200.
Surrey straddles two of our pricing bands — the far end of the county comes in slightly under these figures. Your estimate uses your own postcode, not the county average.
