Fencing in Reigate

eigate splits cleanly into two kinds of fencing job. Below the hill — Woodhatch, Meadvale, South Park — it's post-war semis and estates with 15 to 25 metre boundaries, easy side access and straightforward ground, which is about as economical as fencing gets. Up on Reigate Hill and out towards the Heath the plots get longer, the ground gets chalkier and windier, and the spec has to go up with them.

What Reigate throws at a fence

The chalk on and around the hill is a genuine factor: it digs easily but drains fast and doesn't hold a post the way clay does, so holes need to be properly filled rather than half-concreted. Down in the lower streets the ground is heavier and gravel boards earn their keep. Reigate is our Outer drive-time tier — the estimate is free with no obligation, and the optional fixed-price survey is £120, credited in full if the job goes ahead.

Most Reigate jobs are one of two things: a new fence installation where there's nothing there yet, or a full fence replacement of a boundary that's come to the end of its life.

Most-requested fences in Reigate.

  • 01

    Overlap panels with concrete posts

The best value per metre in the lower Reigate streets, and still a fence that lasts if the posts are right.

  • 02

    Closeboard on exposed boundaries

What we fit up the hill and towards the Heath, where panels take a beating in winter.

  • 03

    Fence and matching gate

Side-return gates on the estate housing go at the same time as the boundary more often than not.

Reigate prices, per metre fitted.

Supply and installation, VAT included, for a standard replacement on clear ground. These are the same figures our estimator uses — updated August 2026.

Worked example

18 m of 6 ft closeboard with concrete posts and gravel boards, standard access, clear boundary — £2,800–£3,800 fitted.

Taking the old fence away is an optional extra you choose on the estimate form — it's priced separately and isn't in the figures above. Minimum job £1,200.

Why Reigate homeowners pick us over a random trade.

One company, end to end

GoodFence is a small London fencing company. We survey every Reigate job, price it, fit it with our own team and stand behind it ourselves. One contract, one number, one company on the hook — not a directory, not a stranger off a phonebook.

Fixed price, no day-of surprises

The price you sign off doesn't move unless the ground itself tells us otherwise — and if it does, we put any change in writing before we touch a tool. One quote, one number to call.

Specced for Reigate ground

Free-draining sand and greensand around Woking and Guildford, heavier London clay towards Epsom and Esher, and plenty of mature root systems on the wooded plots. Sandy ground digs quickly but wants a deeper set on tall panels. Concrete posts on exposed runs, pressure-treated rails, proper feather-edge — we spec the bits that decide how long it lasts.

Chalk gets a full concrete fill, every hole. It's the cheapest insurance on a Reigate Hill boundary and it's the corner most people cut.
