Fencing in Didcot

idcot has grown faster than almost anywhere in South Oxfordshire, and the fencing question here is unusual: most of it is new, and most of it is bad. Great Western Park and Ladygrove were handed over with developer-standard overlap panels on timber posts — the cheapest legal boundary a housebuilder can install — and they start failing around year six to eight, all at once, across whole closes. Then there's the older side: Wallingford, Cholsey and Blewbury, with proper village-scale plots, brick-and-flint context and boundaries that deserve a better fence than a builder's panel. The ground is greensand and chalk, free-draining and kind to posts.

What Didcot throws at a fence

Didcot sits in the Extended drive-time tier from our Basingstoke base. New-build access is generally excellent — wide side gates, level ground, nothing to carry far — which shows up as a lower labour line. Village plots at Blewbury and Cholsey are more variable and we survey before pricing.

Most Didcot jobs are one of two things: a new fence installation where there's nothing there yet, or a full fence replacement of a boundary that's come to the end of its life.

  • 01

Developer-panel replacement, closeboard on concrete posts

New-build overlap on timber posts is built to a price, not a lifespan. Replacing the whole run once beats replacing panels forever.

  • 02

    Whole-close replacement

When a developer fenced ten houses on one day, they fail on one timetable. Doing several together drops the per-metre rate for everyone.

  • 03

    Hit-and-miss on exposed village plots

Open downland ground at Blewbury and Harwell catches wind. Airflow through the fence beats a solid sail.

Why Didcot homeowners pick us over a random trade.

One company, end to end

GoodFence is a small London fencing company. We survey every Didcot job, price it, fit it with our own team and stand behind it ourselves. One contract, one number, one company on the hook — not a directory, not a stranger off a phonebook.

Fixed price, no day-of surprises

The price you sign off doesn't move unless the ground itself tells us otherwise — and if it does, we put any change in writing before we touch a tool. One quote, one number to call.

Specced for Bromley clay

Concrete posts on exposed runs, pressure-treated rails, proper feather-edge. We spec the materials so the bits that matter don't get shortcut.

One company from the first photo to the final walk-round in Didcot. We survey it, we price it, our own fitters build it, and one number answers afterwards.
